IMO 2020: Refinery economics explained

From oil to new fuels and chemical feedstocks, IMO 2020 refinery economics, explained

ICIS shipping editor Clare Pennington goes upstream to find out how IMO 2020 will affect output at refineries, oil prices, and ultimately, feedstocks for petrochemical markets. In part one, ICIS consultants Michael Connolly and Ajay Parmar talk us through the chemistry of new low sulphur fuels for the shipping market. They explain why IMO 2020 is a “step change in capacities” and how prices could be pressured at the top of the supply chain. Starting from crude itself, they look at how refinery complexes, as well as the petrochemicals and fuels these go towards, could all be affected.
